This conference provides an essential opportunity to think about and discuss the implications for unions of the major challenges posed by the Trade Union Bill and the changing nature of work.
It will include major debates on:
The future of work: what will our workplaces look like in 2026?
Union responses to the Trade Union Bill
Speakers include Angela Eagle MP (Shadow Secretary for BIS), Paul Nowak (TUC Assistant General Secretary), John Hannett (USDAW), Raj Jethwa (BMA), Simon Weller (ASLEF), Sarah Welfare (Smith Institute), Mike Clancy (Prospect), Ged Nichols (Accord).
There will also be the launch of a major new report on ‘Building tomorrow’s unions’ with contributions and case studies from Tom Wilson, Christina McAnea and Clare Williams (UNISON), Tony Burke (Unite), Peter Cheese (CIPD), Simon Sapper (CWU), Jon Skewes (Royal College of Midwives), Brian Harris (SCP), Matt Ball (Community), Adam Rourke (Prospect), Professor Mark Stuart (University of Leeds) and others.
Results from a survey of union members by the Smith Institute of what productivity at work means to them.
And, last but by no means least, Becky Wright, new Unions 21 Director, will set out new priorities and opportunities for Unions 21 for the next three years.
